SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz snapped their five-game losing streak with a 108-104 win over the Denver Nuggets.

Both teams were shorthanded at the top of their rosters as the Jazz were without Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell while the Nuggets were without Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray.

Trent Forrest carried the majority of the offensive load for the Jazz scoring career-high 18 points while dishing out eight assists in the win.

First Quarter

The Jazz got off to a hot start fueled by Udoka Azubuike whose size was a lot for Denver’s injured roster to handle.

The big man scored four points and grabbed two rebounds as the Jazz built a 19-10 lead over Denver in the first half of the quarter.

However, with Dok off the floor, the Nuggets were able to get stops against the Jazz smaller lineups while Monte Morris found his stroke scoring six first quarter points on 3-5 shooting.

After one the Jazz trailed the Nuggets 30-28.

Second Quarter

The Nuggets opened the second quarter hot, hitting four consecutive threes to take a seven point lead, their biggest of the game.

Despite the quick offense, the Jazz were able to keep pace against the smaller Nuggets frontcourt.

After starting the game 0-4, Jared Butler found success attacking the rim scoring six straight points to get the Jazz back in the game.

At the half, the Jazz trailed Denver 61-60.

Third Quarter

Both teams’ offenses slowed down dramatically in the third quarter as the Jazz scored just 22 points while the Nuggets managed just 18.

After shooting 9-14 from three in the first half, the Nuggets knocked down just 2-11 from deep in the third.

The Jazz meanwhile knocked down just 1-7 and got to the free throw line just twice after attempting 10 first half free throws.

After three, the Jazz led the Nuggets 82-79.

Fourth Quarter

The Jazz struggled to get good looks on offense in the half court in the fourth quarter, often having to force shots at the end of the shot clock.

The team’s best attack came in transition or in the hands of Trent Forrest who had the best game of any Jazz player on the floor.

Forrest finished with 18 points and eight assists on 6-7 shooting in 38 minutes.

The Jazz snapped their five-game losing streak with a 108-104 win over the Nuggets.
