SALT LAKE CITY – Welcome to the Utah Jazz mailbag, where this week we look at how Ace Bailey has spent his first summer as an NBA player.
Each week, we will send out a prompt on X and BlueSky asking for the questions you have about the Jazz.
Then, we’ll respond to as many as we can in that week’s Jazz mailbag in the Jazz Notes podcast.

Question: Has Ace been in Utah working with anyone i.e. teammates?
Answer: Admittedly, I have not tracked Ace Bailey’s flight schedule with the ultimate scrutiny, but through a series of social media posts, it’s clear the Jazz rookie has had a busy summer, and most of it has taken place outside of Utah.
After wrapping up the Summer Leagues in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, Bailey has spent time back home in Georgia working out, taking in events, and even celebrating his storied high school career.
Last week, Bailey had his No. 4 jersey retired at McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Georgia.

The forward averaged 32.5 points, 15.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.4 blocks per game while being named the Georgia Gatorade Player of the Year and the state’s Mr. Basketball in 2024.
While back home, Bailey also attended an event at the Overtime Elite Basketball Facility in Atlanta, where he sat courtside with his girlfriend.
Bailey participated in the Whitney Houston Challenge, having to time the drum beat for the intro of Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” rendition.

Between social appearances, including a stop at the Atlanta Streetwear Market, and the Slam Summer Classic at Rutgers Park, Bailey has been working out with fellow Jazz players in his hometown.
Luckily for Bailey, both Walker Kessler and Isaiah Collier grew up in Georgia where they spend their summers, allowing him to build chemistry with his Jazz teammates on his home turf.
Working out at the Elite Performance Institute in Atlanta, where Kessler has prepared for the season dating back to high school, the three young Jazz players spent time together this summer developing their games.

Bailey Headed To Utah This Week
Though Bailey has spent most of his time since the Summer League back home, he will be in Utah coming up this week.
The Jazz rookie will make an appearance on Tuesday at the new Walmart at Eagle Mountain, with the first 250 people in line receiving a signed mini basketball.
Jazz Mailbag: How Quickly Could The Rebuild End?
Bailey’s appearance coincides with the traditional timeframe that NBA players begin to report for unofficial team activities after Labor Day.
Though training camp doesn’t officially start until September 29 with media day, the players gather throughout the month to get a head start on the season.
