Cade Hadley | Jack Savage
SALT LAKE CITY – The John Watson Northern Utah High School Player of the Week is celebrating the best high school football player in Northern Utah. Presented by John Watson Chevrolet in Ogden, each week we honor athletes for their exceptional performance on the gridiron. Our co-winners of the week were running back Cade Hadley from Fremont High School and quarterback Jack Savage from Viewmont High School.
Northern Utah Players of the Week – Cade Hadley & Jack Savage
Hadley and the Silver Wolves opened their season with a rivalry showdown against the Weber Warriors. Hadley and his teammates dominated from the opening kickoff, piling up a 42-0 lead on their way to an opening night victory. Hadley, a multi-year player of the week award recipient, did his damage in the first half, piling up 117 yards on the ground and finding paydirt three times.
Savage and the Viewmont Vikings took on the Bonneville Lakers on opening night. Savage wasted no time settling in as he connected with Jayson Dunroe on an 85-yard touchdown strike just 17 seconds into the contest. He added another TD pass on the Vikings’ next possession and it appeared they might be in for an easy night, but Bonneville had other plans.
The Lakers found their offensive groove and the game evolved into a shootout with Savage eventually completing 61% of his passes for 346 yards and five touchdowns in the victory. He also moved the offense into position for a 20-yard field goal from Josh Batholomew that proved to be the difference in a 38-35 season-opening win.
Every week, KSL Sports will name a Northern Utah high school player of the week in partnership with John Watson Chevrolet.
