SALT LAKE CITY – The John Watson Northern Utah High School Player of the Week is celebrating the best high school football player in Northern Utah. Presented by John Watson Chevrolet in Ogden, each week we honor athletes for their exceptional performance on the gridiron. Our co-winners of the week were Ledger Wight from Syracuse High School and Kai Cunliffe from Clearfield High School.
Northern Utah Players of the Week – Ledger Wight & Kai Cunliffe
Wight and the Syracuse Titans were on the road last Friday at Roy High School in a nonregion tilt. Wight wasted no time settling in as he and the Titans piled up 30 first half points with him throwing two touchdown passes and running for another. He ensured they would secure the victory with a touchdown pass to Tanner Merril in the fourth quarter as they emerged with a 37-12 victory.
Cunliffe and the Clearfield Falcons welcomed Kearns High School in last week for a nonregion matchup. Cunliffe and his defensive teammates were harrassing the Cougars all game long, collectively tallying nine sacks. Cunliffe led the charge with four of those sacks and seven total tackles as the Falcons picked up their first win of the season 34-7.
Every week, KSL Sports will name a Northern Utah high school player of the week in partnership with John Watson Chevrolet.
