SALT LAKE CITY – The Mr. Mac Utah County High School Player of the Week is awarded each week to the top prep football players in Utah County. It honors athletes for their performances on the gridiron and exceptional play. Our first honoree of the 2025 prep season is Skyridge High School quarterback Kaneal Sweetwyne.
Utah County Player of the Week – Kaneal Sweetwyne (Skyridge)
Sweetwyne was prolific in the Falcons’ season-opener, passing for five touchdowns and running for another in a 52-17 win over Mountain Ridge High School.
Skyridge opened the season with a 6A showdown against the Mountain Ridge Sentinels as KSL Sports’ Game Night Live Game of the Week. After an early back-and-forth with both teams trading touchdowns, Sweetwyne hooked up with Diesel Hunter and Lincoln Tahi for a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter that helped the Falcons seize control of the game.
Sweetwyne, who recently de-committed from BYU, would go on to add two second half touchdown passes and capped the scoring with a one-yard TD scamper as the Falcons opened the season with a dominant 52-17 victory. All five of his passing TD’s went to different players as his supporting cast showed their depth and versatility.
Every week, KSL Sports will name a Utah County high school player of the week in partnership with Mr. Mac.
