Jazz Send John Collins To Clippers In Three Team Trade

Jul 7, 2025, 9:15 AM | Updated: Jul 8, 2025, 1:56 pm

SALT LAKE CITY – The Jazz are sending John Collins to the Los Angeles Clippers in a three-team trade that will land Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson, and a second-round pick in Utah.

ESPN’s Shams Charania was the first to report the trade on social media.

“BREAKING: The Clippers, Jazz and Heat have agreed to a trade that sends Norman Powell to Miami, John Collins to Los Angeles, and Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson and a 2027 Clippers second-round pick to the Jazz, sources tell ESPN,” Charania wrote.

Jazz Land Veterans From Heat In John Collins Trade

The Jazz acquired Collins during the 2023 offseason in exchange for the expiring contract of Rudy Gay and a heavily protected second-round pick.

After struggling in his first season in Utah, Collins was arguably the Jazz’s best player last season, averaging 19.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while shooting 52 percent from the floor, 40 percent from three, and 85 percent from the free-throw line.

The forward appeared in just 40 games as the Jazz regularly rested the veteran in an attempt to develop their younger players, while losing games to improve their lottery odds.

Anderson, 31, is on the move for the third time in the last 12 months. The guard was traded by the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Golden State Warriors in the 2024 offseason, but was redirected to the Miami Heat in the Jimmy Butler blockbuster in February.

The UCLA product averaged 5.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists between the Warriors and Heat in 61 appearances last season.

Anderson has two years and $19 million left on his contract.

Love, 36, joins the Jazz after spending the last two and a half seasons with the Heat.

The five-time All-Star appeared in just 23 games last season, averaging 5.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 10.9 minutes per game.

Love has one year and $4.5 million left on his contract.

The Jazz roster currently sits at 16 players, including the non-guaranteed contracts for KJ Martin and Jaden Springer.

Rosters must be trimmed to 15 players on traditional guaranteed deals by opening night.
