SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz are trading veteran guard Collin Sexton and a second-round pick to the Charlotte Hornets for Jusuf Nurkic.
ESPN NBA Insider Shams Charania first broke the news on Sunday, June 29.

Collin Sexton Traded To Hornets
Sexton, acquired in the Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell trade in 2022, had spent the last three seasons in Utah.
In 189 games played with the franchise, Sexton averaged 17.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists on 48.8/39.8/85.1 shooting splits.
After a down year in 2022-2023, the guard out of Alabama bounced back in a big way two seasons ago. He played in 78 games, the most since his rookie year, and was a major contributor both on and off the court for a young Jazz team.

Utah is bringing in Nurkic, an 11-year veteran big with career averages of 11.8 points and 8.8 rebounds. The Jazz will be the fifth stop in his career.
Nurkic was traded midway last season from Phoenix to Charlotte. In 51 games played last year, he averaged 8.9 points and 7.8 rebounds on 47.7 percent shooting.
The Jazz lacked true center depth last season. Rookie Kyle Filipowski, who plays more as a power forward, spent some time in that role, and two-way big men Oscar Tshiebwe and Micah Potter also played spot minutes.
What’s Next For The Utah Jazz?
With Austin Ainge stepping in as President of Basketball Operations and Ace Bailey arriving as the No. 5 overall pick, it was speculated that Utah might look to move on from its veteran core.
With Sexton as the first domino to fall, could this be the start of a larger roster shake-up?
Other names to watch in the coming weeks are John Collins, Jordan Clarkson, and potentially even Lauri Markkanen.
