According to a release from the two companies, the space will host concerts, corporate gatherings, conferences, and community events, providing the local market with a mid-size indoor venue.
“Our goal has always been to bring enormous opportunities to downtown. Once the transformation of Delta Center was underway, partnering with Live Nation on what a world-class concert venue could look like in downtown became a top priority,” Ryan Smith, chairman and CEO of Smith Entertainment Group, said.
The new venue will anchor SEG’s broader vision for the area between Delta Center and the Salt Palace Convention Center, which the group plans to transform into a Sports, Entertainment, Culture, and Convention Center District.
Construction on the venue will begin after the demolition of the existing building between Delta Center and the Salt Palace Convention Center, between 100 South and South Temple.

“Not only will it bring the best artists in the world to Utah, but it will also bring a million people downtown to experience Salt Lake City every year,” Smith added. “Both SEG and Live Nation will be committing considerable financial investment into the development of this venue.”
Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino said the company sees Salt Lake City as a growing market for live music and a fitting addition for the downtown space.
“SEG’s incredible vision for the downtown district aligns with our mission to expand access to live music,” Rapino said. “This venue will be a hub for unforgettable experiences, connecting fans with the artists they love.”
Delta Center will continue to host larger-scale events, housing 12,000 to 19,000 attendees. The new venue will accommodate audiences ranging from 2,000 to 6,000, offering a best-in-class option for artists seeking a more intimate indoor setting.
The arena began a three-year construction project in April, but will reopen for the NHL and NBA seasons in October.
