BYU’s Dallin Hall Earns First WCC Freshman Of The Week Honor

PROVO, UtahΒ – BYU basketball freshman Dallin Hall has quickly made for himself. The former Fremont High star has emerged as the starting point guard for the Cougars.
Since he was inserted into the starting lineup, BYU has posted a 3-1 record that includes a win over rival Utah last week.

For his efforts in helping BYU go 2-0 last week, Hall was named WCC Freshman of the Week. It’s the first time Hall has received the honor. In addition, he’s the first BYU player to receive a weekly WCC Men’s Basketball recognition this season.
The WCC Player of the Week was Gonzaga center Drew Timme.
Hall filled up the stat sheet in BYU’s upset win over Utah in the Marriott Center last Saturday. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound guard scored eight points, pulled down a career-high six rebounds, dished out five assists, and recorded another career-high of two steals.
During BYU’s 97-64 win over Western Oregon, Hall tied his career-high in scoring with 14 points. He was perfect shooting the ball that night, going 5-of-5 from the field. Two of those makes were from three-point range. Then he also knocked down both of his free throw attempts.
Dallin Hall is off to a strong start in his BYU career
Hall is averaging 7 points, 3.1 assists, and 2.2 rebounds for the season in his first year at BYU. Before enrolling at BYU, Hall served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fresno, California.
He was the No. 67 overall point guard prospect in the 2020 recruiting class by the 247Sports Composite. Hall picked BYU over offers from Oregon State, Utah State, Utah, and Saint Mary’s.
BYU is currently 8-5 on the season and closes out non-conference play this week at the Marriott Center. The Cougars will host Lindenwood tonight and then in-state rival Weber State on December 22.
This season will be BYU’s last in the West Coast Conference before they move into the Big 12 Conference starting on July 1, 2023.
