BYU CB Jonathan Kabeya Not Listed On Opening Week Depth Chart

PROVO, Utah – The BYU Cougars are expected to be without the services of sophomore corner Jonathan Kabeya for the team’s season-opener against Portland State. Kabeya is working his way back from an undisclosed injury.
Kabeya was not listed on the Cougar depth chart released on Monday, August 25.
“We’ve got some guys working through some things,” Kalani Sitake said when asked about Kabeya’s absence on the depth chart. “We’re not gonna name any injuries or issues unless it’s a season-ending.”

Sitake did say that the Cougars expect Kabeya to be available at some point this season.
“We’re hoping to get him back. We’ve got some guys on that list are still on our roster, working through some things.”
Kabeya was expected to be a favorite to play the nickel corner position for BYU.
About Jonathan Kabeya
A 5’10 sophomore out of Euless, Texas, Kabeya was rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports.com coming out of Byron Nelson High.
He was a 6A All-District First Team selection as a senior and a 5A All-District First Team player as a junior at Colleyville Heritage High School. He registered ten interceptions and made 55 solo tackles in high school.

Kabeya played nine games in his true freshman season. He finished the year with four tackles.
He is the fourth sibling in his family to play college football. Brothers Yannick (Nebraska), Eric (Fresno State), and Lukusa (Houston) also suited up in college.
