SALT LAKE CITY – The countdown for Hans & Scotty’s 60 in 60 is on. Coming in at #44 is Utah State’s Hunter Reynolds (S).

Throughout the summer Hans & Scotty are counting down the top 60 college football players in the state of Utah as voted on by the media (and a fan ballot).

“Hunter Reynolds transferred in from Michigan and ended up starting for us the second half of the season,” Utah State head coach Blake Anderson said of his safety. “Probably the smartest guy in the back end, he knows everybody’s job, everybody’s role, able to communicate really well. He’s a guy that will tell you he isn’t the most athletic in the room, but because he prepares so well and knows the system so well, he just ends up in the right spot and tends to make the big play.”

Utah State’s Hunter Reynolds

Reynolds is a native of South Orange, New Jersey.

Prior playing college football, the USU safety was a standout player at Choate Rosemary Hall High School and Don Bosco Preparatory High School. As a senior at Choate Rosemary Hall, Reynolds earned all-New England first-team prep school honors.

Following his high school career, Reynolds attended the University of Michigan. Reynolds played for the Wolverines from 2017-20. He played in 20 games during his time at Michigan and recorded 22 total tackles, 12 solo tackles, and two tackles for loss. In 2018, Reynolds was the co-recipient of Michigan’s Scout Team Defense Player of the Year Award.

After graduating from Michigan, Reynolds transferred to Utah State ahead of the 2021 season.

Last season, he played in 14 games, including 12 starts. Reynolds recorded 83 total tackles, 48 solo tackles, one sack, four tackles for loss, three pass breakups, one interception, and a fumble recovery. Reynolds helped USU to an 11-3 record, a Mountain West Conference title, and an LA Bowl win over Oregon State.

Reynolds and the Aggies open their 2022 schedule at home against the UConn Huskies on Saturday, August 27. A week after hosting the Huskies, Utah State will travel to Alabama to play the Crimson Tide of the SEC. Alabama and Utah State will play on September 3.
