Kalani Sitake On Sione Moa: “One Of The Toughest Guys You’ll Ever Meet”

SALT LAKE CITY – BYU sophomore running back Sione Moa is stepping in as the number two guy for the Cougars and looks to be ready for the task.
Head coach Kalani Sitake highlighted Moa’s toughness and physical running style for our 60 in 60 watchlist.

“Sione Moa is a big, physical back with tons of athleticism,” Sitake said. “He doesn’t mind being a punishing, bruising back. When you have a back thats not afraid to be physical and has the speed and the agility that he has, it makes a complete back and a great complement to what LJ Martin can do. He’s one of the toughest guys you’ll ever meet. We’ve got to keep him healthy and get him ready. He had a great spring.”

About BYU’s Sione Moa
Moa is a sophomore running back from Victorville, California.
He attended Timpview High School, where he totaled 254 carries for 2,244 yards and 26 touchdowns.
Moa served a two-year mission in San Bernardino, California, and played his freshman season with BYU in 2024.
In year one, Moa recorded 29 rushes for 144 yards and three touchdowns. He also reeled in five receptions for 38 yards.
