Legacy Recruit Adney Reid Commits To BYU Football

PROVO, Utah – BYU football prides itself on the family culture under head coach Kalani Sitake. On Friday night, the Cougars picked up a commitment on the recruiting trail from a prospect with strong family ties to BYU.
Adney Reid, the son of former BYU football tight end Gabe Reid, announced his commitment to the Cougars.

“After a great conversation with @kalanifsitake and @CoachPHadley I am excited to announce my commitment to Brigham Young University,” exclaimed Reid on Twitter. “Thank you to all of the family, coaches, and friends who have helped me up to this point!”
A 6-foot-4, 205-pound defensive end/outside linebacker prospect, Reid is BYU’s third commitment in the class of 2024. He is joining Springville defensive lineman Dallin Johnson and Stansbury’s Easton Baker.
Along with interest from BYU, Reid also reports an offer from the University of Utah. Reid received his scholarship offer from BYU during an unofficial visit last June.
Adney Reid’s father and uncle played for BYU football
The connections to BYU football go beyond just Adney’s father. Adney’s uncle, Spencer Reid, was a former linebacker at BYU and in the NFL. Spencer played two seasons with BYU head coach Kalani Sitake.
Adney’s father, Gabe Reid, was teammates with Sitake in the 1999 and 2000 seasons at BYU.
Living in Australia
Adney’s parents are mission presidents in Sydney, Australia, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where they have been serving since July of last year.
Adney is continuing his high school career in Australia, where he plays basketball and rugby at a private institution called The King’s School in Sydney.

Before moving to Australia with his parents, Reid was going to play football at Spanish Fork High School in Utah County.
