Former BYU QB Baylor Romney Announces New Career Path

PROVO, Utah – Former BYU football quarterback Baylor Romney moves from the gridiron. After six weeks in the Transfer Portal, Romney has shifted to a career in the private sector.

Romney announced on his LinkedIn account that he will be a Business Development Representative at Adobe.

“The past couple of months have been filled with a lot of change. I graduated from BYU, decided it was time for me to move on from football, and began the search for the career path that is right for me,” wrote Romney on Linkedin.

He continued, “I’m excited to start the next chapter of my life at Adobe as a Business Development Representative!”

After announcing he was leaving BYU, Romney’s younger brother, Gunner, who is returning for his fifth and final season in Provo this fall, told KSL Sports in January that his older brother was receiving interest “from a lot of schools” to continue his football career. He also noted that Baylor was garnering a lot of job opportunities as well.

Baylor Romney: Career at BYU

Baylor Romney joined the BYU football program in 2018, the same year Zach Wilson and Jaren Hall were in their first seasons with the team at quarterback. Once a Nevada Wolf Pack commit, Romney transferred to BYU as a preferred walk-on and later earned scholarship status after going undefeated in relief of an injured Zach Wilson and Jaren Hall in 2019.

Before the 2021 season, Romney was in a three-quarterback battle for the starting job to try and replace Zach Wilson. Jaren Hall eventually won the job, with Romney as the No. 2 QB. But, once again, he proved to be valuable off the bench leading BYU to a pair of victories in 2021 as the starter. After Hall left the Arizona State game due to a ribs injury, Romney stepped in to deliver a late fourth-quarter touchdown pass against the nationally-ranked Sun Devils.

During his career, Romney started in five games, posting a 4-1 record. The lone loss was his last appearance at BYU in the 2021 Independence Bowl against UAB.

Romney finished his BYU career 30th in career passing yards with 1,787 yards.
