PROVO, Utah – BYU football wide receiver Chris Jackson has entered the NCAA’s Transfer Portal. The 5-foot-10, 184-pound pass-catcher out of Mt. San Antonio College was part of the BYU program for two years as a junior college transfer.

Jackson had four catches for 39 yards during the 2021 season. His best performance came in BYU’s season-opening win over Arizona in Las Vegas where he hauled in two catches for 20 yards in replace of an injured Gunner Romney.

The Pomona, California native shared on social media that he decided to enter the Transfer Portal for “personal reasons.”

“First, I would like to thank all the BYU coaching staff and fans,” wrote Jackson. “BYU will always have a place in my heart, but unfortunately I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal due to personal reasons. I also would like to thank my teammates y’all will always be my brothers.”

Jackson is close to finishing his undergraduate degree at BYU. Players when they enter the transfer portal do have the opportunity to return to the original school if the opportunity is given by the school. Jackson told KSL Sports that he “will always have love for BYU and one day I wanna give back.”

With Jackson now putting his name in the transfer portal, BYU football has had seven players enter the portal this off-season. The others include cornerback Jacques Wilson, offensive lineman Cade Parrish, tight end Bentley Hanshaw, quarterbacks Baylor Romney and Rhett Reilly, Mo Unuota, and Jackson.
