College Football Insider Lists BYU’s Kalani Sitake As Candidate For UW Job

SALT LAKE CITY – A prominent college football insider named BYU football head coach Kalani Sitake as a potential candidate to fill the recent coaching vacancy with the Washington Huskies.
The University of Washington fired former Huskies head coach Jimmy Lake on Sunday, November 14.
After Lake’s departure from UW, Bruce Feldman of The Athletic listed Sitake as a potential candidate to be the next head coach of the Huskies.

As mentioned by Feldman, Sitake has experience coaching in the Pac-12. Before arriving in Provo as Bronco Mendenhall’s successor, Sitake served as defensive coordinator at Oregon State and the University of Utah.

The former BYU player owns a career record of 46-28 as the Cougars’ head coach, including 3-1 in bowl games.
Sitake and the Cougars are currently ranked No. 14 in the country and have an 8-2 record with two games left in the regular season. BYU is 4-0 against Pac-12 programs this season. The Cougars face the Pac-12’s USC Trojans in the regular season finale.
Earlier this year, Sitake’s name was mentioned among potential candidates to be the next head coach of USC.
BYU and Washington have played twice during Sitake’s six-year tenure. The Huskies beat the Cougars in 2018 and 2019.
Sitake was one of eight potential UW candidates mentioned by Feldman.

Washington is 4-6 this season and sits in fourth place in the Pac-12 Conference’s North division.
BYU’s next game is against Georgia Southern on Saturday, November 20 at 2 p.m. (MDT). The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and KSL NewsRadio 102.7 FM and 1160 AM.
