BYU Football Replaces Florida State In Top Schools List For Five-Star Recruit

PROVO, Utah – BYU football is in the mix for five-star cornerback recruit Cormani McClain.
The nation’s number one cornerback prospect in the class of 2023 made his second trip to Provo on Saturday. One day later, he released a new “Top 5” schools list that featured the Cougars.

BYU appears in the top five with college football bluebloods Alabama, Florida, Ohio State, and Miami. That’s significant for BYU because it puts them in a recruiting battle with some of the biggest brands in the sport.
What’s even more notable about the Top 5 drop from McClain is that he had a previous top five schools list in August that featured the four schools BYU is going to battle against, along with Florida State.

The Noles don’t appear on this latest Top 5 from the Lake Gibson High School standout.
Saturday’s visit to BYU was the second trip to Provo for McClain. Back in June, he visited BYU football camp, where he was the fastest player. He immediately received an offer from BYU head coach Kalani Sitake.

During this unofficial visit, McClain traveled with some of his Lake Gibson teammates in 2023 linebacker Dontay Joyner, wide receiver Daidren Zipperer, and 2024 running back D’Marius Rucker made the trip to BYU.

Zipperer announced he received an offer from BYU on Sunday. It’s his first FBS offer.
When the recruits arrived at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Saturday, they were greeted by BYU’s Student Section, The ROC, with signs cheering for McClain and his teammates to play for the Cougars.
The big screen here at LES just showed a fan holding up a sign that read, "We Want Cormani!"

In the stadium, the recruits saw BYU head coach Kalani Sitake and they chatted for a moment and took pictures together. During the game, more signs emerged on the LES big screen from BYU fans that said, “We Want Cormani!”
McClain and his Lake Gibson teammates are in action this Friday in the Regional Quarterfinal of the Florida High School playoffs.
