Tale Of Turnovers: BYU Forces, Recovers Fumble After Throwing Interception Early In Play

PROVO, Utah – BYU regained possession by forcing a fumble following an interception by Jaren Hall during the Cougars’ game against the Arizona State Sun Devils.

The Cougars hosted the Sun Devils at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah on Saturday, September 18.

With 12 seconds left in the third quarter, Hall had the Cougars in ASU territory when he made the poor decision to force a throw while a Sun Devil defender attempted to wrap up the quarterback’s legs.

Arizona State’s Merlin Robertson intercepted the pass and returned the ball 60 yards before BYU returned the favor by forcing a turnover.

BYU running back Tyler Allgeier sprinted down the field and swung a massive punch over Robertson’s shoulder and punched the ball free.

Hall, who had been chasing down Robertson as well, hopped on the ball and regained possession for the Cougars.

Allgeier’s hustle drew the praise of NBA champion and Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green.

While BYU lost a ton of field position with the play, the Cougars kept possession heading into the fourth quarter.

At the end of the third quarter, BYU owned a 21-17 lead.
