SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Olympus Titans needed a turnover late in order to hold off and pick up an upset win over No. 23 Brighton.

Olympus defeated Brighton 35-28 in the Game Night Live Game of the Week.

Nash Matheson got things started with a five-yard touchdown pass from Jack Johnson. Then the game went into a 75-minute lightning delay. Following the stoppage in action, Olympus found the end zone with a touchdown by Ryan Reynard but they couldn’t tie the game after missing the PAT.

Matheson scored once again when the Bengals got the ball back. Brighton had a 14-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. Reynard gave the Titans an answer with another rushing touchdown. They went for two and got it to tie the ball game at 14.

Almost immediately after getting the ball, Jack Johnson threw an interception to Nash Taylor, who returned it to the one-yard line. Seth Roberts scored a one-yard touchdown with the QB keeper to give Olympus a 21-14 lead.

Brighton had a chance to trim the deficit but missed the field goal attempt. Anthony Olsen capitalized with a 71-yard touchdown reception from Roberts to put the Titans up by two touchdowns, 28-14.

Brighton threw an interception, which led to Olympus turning the ball over right after.

In the third quarter, Brighton had to really work to get into the end zone but they were able to get to within one touchdown, 28-21 with 3:39 left in the quarter.

The Titans stretched the lead back out with a touchdown by Josh Peterson to put Olympus up 35-21 with 5:58 remaining in the game. Brighton went to their best player late in Lander Barton to cut the Olympus lead to 35-28 with three minutes remaining in the game.

Brighton’s defense got a stop and forced Olympus to punt. While in Olympus territory, the Bengals had a chance to tie or potentially win the game. The Bengals threw another interception.

Olympus improved their record to 4-1 and will travel to East on Friday, September 17 at 7 p.m. MDT.

Brighton dropped their record to 3-2 on the season. They will host Skyline on Friday, September 17 at 7 p.m. MDT.

The Game Night Live Game of the Week next week will feature two Cache Valley standout teams in Ridgeline and Sky View. That game will kickoff at 7 p.m. MDT on Friday, September 17 and can be streamed on KSLSports.com, the KSL Sports app or the KSL 5 TV app.
