SALT LAKE CITY – The Fremont Silverwolves completed a wild second-half comeback, scoring 21 of the game’s final 27 points in a 35-24 road win.

The Davis Darts (1-1) hosted the Fremont Silverwolves (2-0) in the Game Night Live Game of the Week on Friday, August 22.

First Quarter

Both defenses held serve in the first period as the offenses tried to find an opening.

Junior Dart two-way star Bode Sparrow gave his team an extra possession and ended a potential Silverwolves scoring drive with an interception midway through the period.

Minutes later, the Darts’ special teams kept the game scoreless when they blocked a Fremont field goal attempt.

Davis broke through with a touchdown in the final minute.

Boise State commit Tradon Bessinger hit Tyson Baggett from 11 yards out to take a 7-0 lead with 59 seconds left.

Second Quarter

Bessinger did the dirty work himself on the Darts’ next drive.

He took the snap from the 13-yard line and danced through the middle of the defense untouched for a touchdown.

Davis’ second score through the air went to Isaac Morrison with just under five minutes left in the half. Bessinger stepped up in the pocket before finding Morrison for a 21-0 lead.

A missed tackle in the Davis secondary allowed Fremont to answer on the next drive.

Slade Parker elevated to catch a deep ball inside the 20-yard line and eluded a would-be tackler before scampering into the end zone.

A two-point conversion made it 21-8 at halftime.

Third Quarter

Fremont began the second half with a more than four and a half minute drive that ended with a TD.

On third-and-1 from the ten-yard line, Manase Tuatagaloa rolled left to find Parker for the duo’s second scoring connection.

Davis had a chance to take a two-score lead, but couldn’t convert a 39-yard field goal.

Fremont’s defense shut down Davis in the third, holding the Darts scoreless.

Fourth Quarter

Makaio Byrd turned into a tackle-breaking machine after Davis forced a Fremont turnover on downs.

Byrd and Bessinger connected multiple times on a scoring drive, including a catch and run from Byrd before being dragged down inside the five-yard line.

Bessinger and Baggett finished the drive with a touchdown for a 28-14 lead with 3:42 left.

Fremont wasn’t ready to pack it in.

The Silverwolves used a big pass play to advance into the Davis side of the field. Tuatagaloa then got Tennessee commit Salesi Moa involved with a short touchdown pass.

Fremont trailed 28-22 after a two-point conversion.

The Silverwolves seized momentum when they recovered an onside kick near midfield with 3:11 left.

Another desperate, deep-ball gave Fremont possession in the red zone. Tuatagaloa hit Moa in the corner of the end zone, tying the game at 28 with 47 seconds left.

Moa was flagged for a personal foul, taunting penalty after the touchdown. The penalty forced Fremont back 15 yards and cost the team a chance at a two-point conversion.

Overtime

Davis took the football first in OT.

Bessinger and Baggett finished the drive with the third scoring pass of the night between the two. A bad snap kept the score 34-28 with Fremont taking the football.

Tuatagaloa dragged the Silverwolves inside the five-yard line before Cade Hadley finished the job. Hadley’s two-yard TD set the stage for a game-winning extra point attempt.

The Darts brought the house, but Fremont’s kicker calmly split the uprights for a 35-34 win.
