NCAA Investigating Allegations Of Violations With Arizona State Football

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The NCAA is investigating allegations of violations with the Arizona State football program, the university confirmed on Wednesday.
The allegations were not specified by the Arizona State spokeswoman who spoke to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg. Sources told Rittenberg and ESPN that the potential violations are linked to “recent recruiting practices and likely involve several Arizona State coaches.
Sources also indicated to ESPN that part of the NCAA’s investigation involves ASU hosting prospects during the recruiting dead period, which was just recently lifted for the first time since March of 2020. FBS programs were prohibited from having recruits on campus during the dead period.

Another allegation that sources told ESPN was recruiting practices that occurred when the dead period ended, including potential improper contact with recruits at an off-campus recruiting camp this month.
According to The Athletic, ASU’s compliance office has started interviewing coaches about the allegations. The involvement from head coach Herm Edwards along with defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator Antonio Pierce and wide receivers coach and assistant recruiting coordinator Prentice Gill is unknown.
