Former Utah State Aggie Jakob Robinson Transfers To BYU Football

PROVO, Utah – Jakob Robinson was once a commit to BYU football when he was a prep defensive back at Orem High School. The first commitment to BYU as a high school player didn’t last, as he ended up at Utah State.
Now Robinson made a second commitment to BYU, and this one is going to be official.
The former Utah State Aggie cornerback announced on Wednesday that he is committed to BYU.

Robinson, a 5-foot-10, 165-pound Academic All-Mountain West player in 2020, entered the NCAA’s Transfer Portal back on February 1st. BYU was immediately in pursuit of Robinson, who had been recruited by Jernaro Gilford when he was at Orem High.
Robinson will have five years to play four during his BYU career. Last year doesn’t count against Robinson’s eligibility as it was a free year due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. Due to the NCAA Transfer rules, Robinson will have to sit out this upcoming season. The NCAA is planning to meet to decide on a one-time waiver rule in college sports during the 2021-22 academic year.
According to Pro Football Focus last season, Robinson was Utah State’s highest-graded cornerback. He appeared in three games for Utah State.
