BYU Football Lands Commitment From Stansbury Ninth-Grader Easton Baker

STANSBURY PARK, Utah – It’s not often ninth-grade athletes see time at the varsity level in high school, but that was the case for Stansbury High’s Easton Baker this past season.
The young, rising prospect in the state of Utah received an offer from BYU football defensive coordinator Ilaisa Tuiaki leading him to commit to the Cougars shortly after. BYU is the first FBS school to extend an offer to Baker.

Baker is a prospect in the class of 2024, so it’s going to be another three years before the hard-hitting prospect signs his letter of intent with BYU.
During his freshman season, Baker played outside linebacker, running back, and special teams for an 8-3 Stallions team this past fall. Baker is the first commit for BYU football in the class of 2024.
BYU offering young high school prospects have not been uncommon during Kalani Sitake’s tenure as head coach. The Cougars offered Timpview stars Raider Damuni and Logan Fano as eighth-graders. Both went on to receive offers from numerous Power 5 programs during their recruitments. They each plan to sign with BYU coming up during the Early Signing Period for the class of 2021 this Wednesday.

Baker said he committed to BYU because he has been a “life long Y. fan.” The 6-foot, 190-pound prospect also noted the great atmosphere on the Provo campus and the fun that the BYU coaching staff seems to have as reasons to commit.
Baker would be the third player from Stansbury Park to play for BYU all-time. The others being starting safety Zayne Anderson who was part of the Cougars 2015 recruiting class and current defensive back Tavita Gagnier.
