Zach Wilson Sets BYU Football Record For Pass Attempts Without Interception Thrown

PROVO, Utah – BYU quarterback Zach Wilson set a school record for most consecutive pass attempts without throwing an interception during the Cougars’ game against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.

Wilson and the Cougars hosted Western Kentucky at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Saturday, October 31.

After not throwing an interception since BYU’s first game this season, Wilson extended his streak of attempts without a pick to 184 throws.

Wilson’s first and only pick of the 2020 season came during the Cougars’ season-0pener against the Navy Midshipmen on Labor Day. Since then, he’s been nearly perfect.

On the 185th pass attempt and No. 28 against WKU, Wilson’s streak came to an end.

Prior to Wilson’s mark, the BYU record for most pass attempts without an interception thrown was held by former Cougar signal-caller Charlie Peterson in 2000.

The junior quarterback entered BYU’s game against Western Kentucky having thrown for 1,928 yards, 16 touchdowns, and only one interception with a 78.3 completion rate.

In the first half against the Hilltoppers, Wilson was 16/27 passing for 203 yards and two touchdowns. He added five carries for 35 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
