11 High School Football Games Canceled Or Postponed Due To COVID-19

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – High School football took a big hit this week with many games canceled or moved to another date due to COVID-19 outbreaks.

Leading up to Week 8, the cancelations were minimal but this week was the most amount of games impacted by the pandemic than another other week this season and it’s not even close.
Deseret News Preps writer James Edwards counted 11 games canceled or moved while another game since his tweet has been canceled.
Games Canceled Or Moved
Here are the 13 games that have been canceled or moved due to the pandemic for Week 8 of the season.
- No. 12 Orem vs. No. 13 Timpview
- Mountain Ridge vs. Maple Mountain
- Providence vs. Gunnison
- Rich vs. Enterprise
- Layton vs. Fremont
- No. 5 Kearns vs. Granger
- Murray vs. No. 6 Brighton
- No. 16 Skyline vs. Highland
- Copper Hills vs. Jordan
- Viewmont vs. Bountiful
- Stansbury vs. Mountain View

Two games were added to the schedule including Brighton and Jordan along with Fremont and Bountiful.
Earlier in the week, Brighton’s game against Murray was canceled. They were able to book a non-region matchup with Jordan which later got canceled. The Skyline game against Highland was moved to this Monday, October 5.
No. 12 Orem has not played a game in three weeks. They have had games canceled after a spike of COVID-19 cases occurred in the Orem/Provo area. Fans are not allowed to attend because those areas are in the Orange. The Tigers are trying to play Kearns, who is No. 5 in the latest Game Night Live Power Rankings.
