BYU To Wear All-Royal Uniforms Against Troy Trojans

PROVO, Utah – When BYU takes the field at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Saturday against the Troy Trojans, they’ll be wearing a uniform combination they haven’t worn in a while.

BYU will be wearing all-royal blue uniforms in their home opener against Troy. Kickoff between the Cougars and Trojans is set for 8:15 p.m. (MDT).

The last time BYU broke out their all-royal blue look was in 2018 in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. Remember, quarterback Zach Wilson took head coach Kalani Sitake’s perfect expectation to heart by completing all 18 of his pass attempts for 317 yards.

BYU is 1-2 since 2011 when wearing the all-royal blue jerseys. The two losses were against in-state rivals Utah (2013) and Utah State (2014). This week BYU enters the Troy game with a No. 18 ranking in the AP poll. That was the same ranking BYU had in 2014 when they lost to Utah State.

Before BYU had Nike swoosh’s outfit their uniforms starting in 1996, the Cougars wore all royal in a 1995 game against Wyoming. BYU won that game 23-20.

In the season opener against Navy back on Labor Day night, BYU wore an all-white uniform with royal blue numbers and stripes on the pants.
