Cottonwood High School Football Team Plans Early ‘Senior Night’ For Colts Players

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Cottonwood High School football team announced that the Colts will hold an early Senior Night “due to the uncertainty of the season” amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The football team said Cottonwood seniors will be honored prior to the start of the Colts’ next game.

“Due to the uncertainty of the season, we will be honoring our seniors this Friday August 21st at 6:45 pm, just before we kickoff at 7pm vs. the Carbon Dinos in our home opener,” @FootballColt posted on Twitter. “Dont want something to happen and not given our seniors their night.”

Traditionally, football teams will hold a “Senior Night” to honor players in their final year during the final home game of the season.

On Friday, August 14, the Colts opened the 2020 season with a 40-6 loss to Summit Academy.

Cottonwood scored first with a touchdown pass from James Holm to Joseph Madrigal to go up 6-0 but that was all the scoring for the Colts in the season-opener.

Summit Academy rattled off 40 unanswered points to pick up the win.

The Colts look to bounce back from the loss and pick up their first win of the season when they host the Carbon Dinos on Friday, August 21 at 7 p.m. (MDT).

Carbon suffered a 38-7 loss to American Leadership to start their schedule.
