BYU Lands Commitment From WR Quenton Rice

PROVO, Utah – BYU is quietly piecing together a solid recruiting haul for the class of 2021. The latest addition to BYU’s class is Las Vegas wide receiver Quenton Rice from Faith Lutheran High School.

You might wonder, what’s the connection to Rice and BYU? Well, Rice’s father, Rodney, was a talented defensive back for the Cougars from 1986-88. In 1988, the elder Rice was an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American recipient for his play in Provo.
Now Rodney’s son is joining the family that is BYU football, but this member of the Rice family is expected to play on the offensive side of the ball.
At 6-foot-1, 170-pounds, Rice has a track and field background and brings a lot of athleticism to the position. During the 2020 outdoor track & field season this year, Rice ran 11.10 100 meters and 22.34 200 meters. Along with track and field, Rice played basketball at Faith Lutheran the past few seasons.

Measurables, speed, and dual-sport athletes are attributes and traits that Kalani Sitake has loved during his tenure as BYU’s head coach. Rice is a perfect fit for what BYU looks for in skill position athletes.
Rice is now the eighth commitment in BYU’s 2021 recruiting class and is the fifth prospect from outside the state of Utah.
It’s been stated in the past, but this 2021 recruiting class for BYU is expected to be smaller than in years past. Might end up being the smallest since the 2003 class where BYU ended up signing only 13 players.
