BYU Fans Can Still Celebrate Cougar Fan Fest…Virtually

PROVO, Utah – Each year Fan Fests have become an annual fixture on the BYU fan calendar. But that has changed this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of holding fan fests around the country for BYU fans to congregate, BYU has announced a “Virtual Fan Fest” to keep the annual tradition somewhat alive.
The BYU Virtual Fan Fest takes place on Saturday, August 8th and the numerous events will be held on the athletic department’s various social media channels.

Activities during the Virtual Fan Fest include a virtual “Cosmo Trot 5K, 10K, and Kids’ Run” where you can download your own race bib.
For anyone that’s been to a BYU Fan Fest, you know the man on the mic is always BYU Football’s Jack Damuni. Damuni is the Executive Coordinator of On-campus Recruiting and Community relations for the football program and he’s been a fixture at Fan Fests getting fans to dance over the years. This year he keeps that tradition alive by being the judge for fan-submitted dance videos.
BYU basketball is holding a dunk contest for fans to watch via Zoom. According to BYU’s press release on the event, it will be judged by “notable Cougar alumni.” Just putting it out there, if the fans get a dunk contest that has UVU transfer Brandon Averette, returned missionary Hunter Erickson, and junior Gavin Baxter, that would be pretty nice.
Other activities include a pogo contest against Cosmo, BYU Cheer teaching fans a routine to the Cougar Fight Song, and a digital poster release for the upcoming fall sports.
