ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – The versatility of BYU two-sport star Jaren Hall continues to amaze. Hall who is a quarterback with the football team also excels on the diamond with the Cougar baseball team.

On Friday night in game two of a doubleheader against the New Mexico Lobos, Hall had arguably the best game of his BYU baseball career. With BYU up 11-5 in the top of the sixth inning, the sophomore outfielder blasted a fastball for a grand slam. The four-run shot was Hall’s first grand slam of his collegiate career.

BYU defeated the Lobos 18-9 in game two with Hall leading the way going 3-5, scoring four runs, two walks, and five RBIs.

“It was just a step in there [with a] 2-0 count, just get a fastball. Stay with the approach we’ve had all year and just let it all happen,” said Hall on his grand slam to the BYU Sports Network.

Jaren Hall’s career performance comes one night after being inserted into the starting lineup for the first time this season. Head Coach Mike Littlewood continues to be impressed with the growth of the dual-sport standout.

“Jaren had some great at-bats today,” Littlewood said to the BYU Sports Network. “It’s amazing, I just imagine if he would be with us through the fall and be with us all the time, he’d be pretty special. He’s worked himself into the starting lineup. [I’m] really proud of him.”

Jaren Hall plans to participate in Spring Football

Hall’s performance on the diamond Friday night is even more impressive when you consider that Hall will be gearing up to participate in spring football which begins on Monday. Last season, Hall started in two games for BYU and posted a 1-1 record. In both starts, Hall was unable to finish either game due to concussions.

BYU Baseball is now 6-5 overall this season and gets ready for their fourth and final game of the series against New Mexico on Saturday at 12 p.m. (MST).
