BYU Basketball Home Finale Against No. 2 Gonzaga Is Sold Out

PROVO, Utah – A lot of sentences regarding BYU basketball right now are including the classing “The Last Time…” stats. The same goes for sellouts at the Marriott Center. It’s been two years since BYU last sold out the Marriott Center for a home basketball game.
That drought ends this Saturday, and it could be close to ending this Thursday night.

BYU announced on Monday that Saturday’s game against No. 2 Gonzaga is officially a sellout at the 18,987-seat Marriott Center. The last time BYU had a sellout was against the Zags as well when they were No. 6 in the country on February 24th, 2018. BYU lost that game 79-65.
There hasn’t been a home game since that one against the Zags in 2018 that has eclipsed the 17,000-mark, let alone a sellout.
BYU is now ranked No. 23 in the country, the first time the Cougars have been ranked since 2011 when Jimmer Fredette and Jackson Emery were on their way to a Sweet 16 appearance.

In 13 home games this season, BYU has averaged well below their arena capacity. The Cougars have drawn an average of 12,126 fans per home game with the last two home contests against Saint Mary’s and San Francisco inflating the averaging and being the highest attended games so far this season.
According to a press release by BYU on Monday, the Cougars have 3,000 seats remaining for Thursday’s game against Santa Clara.
