Ghanwoloku’s Diving Interception Seals BYU Upset Of No. 24 USC

BYU defensive back, #5 Dayan Ghanwoloku
PROVO, Utah – BYU defensive back, Dayan Ghanwoloku dove to the ground and intercepted USC’s quarterback Kedon Slovis in overtime to seal the Cougars upset on Saturday afternoon.
Ghanwoloku picked off the Trojans QB in overtime to give BYU the 30-27 victory.
The defensive back’s INT was one of his two massive plays in the Cougars win. Ghanwoloku was put in on offense in the first quarter and scored BYU’s first touchdown of the game on a 1-yard run.

The Cougars and Trojans went to overtime after USC nailed a 52-yard field goal to tie the game at 27 with 1:43 left in the fourth quarter.
BYU received the ball first in overtime. After not converting a first down, Jake Oldroyd gave the Cougars a three-point edge with a 43-yard FG.
USC received the next possession. After two plays, the Trojans were looking to convert a 3rd & 6. Slovis threw a pass that was intercepted by Ghanwoloku at the BYU 21 and the game was over.

Cougars QB, Zach Wilson led BYU with 280 yards and one touchdown threw the air. He scored an additional TD on the ground.
Running back, Ty’Son Williams had 19 carries for 99 yards. He also had one reception for 18 yards.
BYU moved to 2-1 on the season with the win.

The 24th ranked Trojans fell to 2-1 and experienced their first loss of 2019.
BYU’s next game is against the 23rd ranked Washington Huskies. The Cougars host UW on Saturday, September 21 at 1:30 p.m. (MDT). The game will be on KSL NewsRadio 1160 AM and 102.7 FM.
