BYU Wide Receiver Neil Pau’u Will Miss Entire 2019 Season

PROVO, Utah – In June, BYU wide receiver Neil Pau’u was arrested for a DUI. Earlier this month, Pau’u pled guilty to amended charges for impaired driving, a class B misdemeanor.
On Wednesday, the first day of BYU football fall camp, head coach Kalani Sitake addressed the media and stated that Neil Pau’u was not going to be playing for the Cougars this season.

The positive news for Pau’u, who was at practice on Wednesday in a t-shirt and shorts, is that he remains in school and will use this year as a redshirt season.
BYU released a post-spring depth chart last month and Pau’u was listed as a backup at the Z-Wide Receiver position.
Last year, Pau’u played in nine games and had 18 catches for 216 yards and one touchdown grab. The Anaheim, California, native could use the 2019 season as a redshirt and still have two years of eligibility remaining.
