SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Former BYU basketball star Jimmer Fredette’s run as a potential splash brother in Golden State was over before it ever started.  Jimmer Fredette left the Golden State Warriors Summer League team on Wednesday.  It’s unclear as to why Jimmer left the Warriors Summer League team.

In game number two with the Warriors Summer League team last night, Jimmer scored five points in 16 minutes of action off the bench. Jimmer’s plus-minus in the game was minus-27, a team low.

“I got a call that he wasn’t going to be with us anymore,” Warriors summer league head coach Aaron Miles on Wednesday.  “He was great with us.  That veteran leadership that he provided for us.  Wish him well.  I know he’s still got a lot of basketball in him.  Not sure what’s next for him, but we wish him well.”

Fredette scored 14 points in his first game on Monday night with the Warriors and then five points last night.

The Basketball Tournament with Team Fredette is coming up later this month.  Now that Jimmer is no longer with an NBA team, he is eligible to play with Team Fredette.  A team that both he and his brother manage together.  Those games start on July 25th.

Other potential spots for Jimmer include going back overseas to play in China or another international basketball franchise.  When Jimmer was in China previously, his wife, Whitney was not with him and now the Fredette family has two children.

Hopefully, Jimmer finds a way to get back into basketball, but the chances of him getting back into the NBA took a big hit with him leaving the Warriors Summer League squad.
