Lyons is a massive addition to the BYU football program. The commitment from Lyons jumped BYU 17 spots in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings from No. 48 to No. 31 in the 2026 recruiting class.
Lyons is the first five-star prospect to commit to BYU football since the 2003 recruiting cycle when the Cougars landed Ofa Mohetau. He’s the first five-star quarterback commit to BYU since the Cougars landed Ben Olson in 2002.
With Lyons’ high-profile status as a prospect, he instantly captured reactions throughout social media.
