BYU basketball has reportedly added another marquee nonconference matchup for the 2025-26 season.
CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported that BYU will face the UConn Huskies at the TD Garden, home of the NBA’s Boston Celtics, in Boston.

UConn has emerged as one of the top college basketball programs in the past 30 years. The Huskies have won six National Championships since 1999 and recently won consecutive titles in 2023 and 2024.
BYU playing UConn at the TD Garden in Boston would be a homecoming for BYU’s freshman star AJ Dybantsa.
Homecoming game for AJ Dybantsa
Dybantsa, a five-star prospect in the class of 2025, is a native of Brockton, Massachusetts, 25 miles south of the TD Garden.
UConn finished last season with a 24-11 record and a Second Round NCAA Tournament exit after falling to eventual National Champion Florida.
BYU reached the Sweet 16 in last year’s NCAA Tournament, its first year under head coach Kevin Young.
BYU and UConn have only faced each other once in basketball, which was in the first round of the 2003 NCAA Tournament. The Huskies won that game 58-53 in Spokane, Washington.
That was the year that if BYU had advanced to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament, they would have flipped brackets due to its “No Sunday” rule. What could have been.
BYU basketball continues to add to its nonconference schedule
BYU is building up its nonconference schedule with marquee games. A welcome sight compared to last year, where the Cougars had one of the worst non-league strength of schedules in college basketball.
Along with the reported UConn matchup, BYU has reported games against Clemson in Madison Square Garden, an MTE with Dayton, Georgetown, and Miami in Orlando, and a season-opener against Villanova in Las Vegas.
Presale ticket access for BYU’s game against Villanova started on Tuesday. The game will occur on college basketball’s opening night, Monday, November 3, 2025.
BYU is projected to enter the 2025-26 season as a top-10 team. ESPN’s Way-Too-Early Top 25 has BYU ranked No. 16 in the country, while UConn is ranked No. 4.
