Timpview’s Dean Rueckert Commits To BYU Basketball

PROVO, Utah – Timpview High basketball star Dean Rueckert has made his decision.
The 6-foot-8 sharpshooting wing announced on Monday night that he will continue his hoops career in college with the BYU basketball program.
Rueckert picked BYU over a final five that included Washington, Clemson, Stanford, and Utah. He made his decision live on the CBS Sports College Basketball YouTube channel.
The 247Sports Composite ranks Rueckert as the 85th overall prospect nationally in the 2026 recruiting cycle. On 247Sports’ rankings, Rueckert is 68th in the country.
Rueckert is the highest-rated recruit from a public school in the state of Utah. The four prospects in front of him in 247Sports’ state of Utah rankings are either from Wasatch Academy or Utah Prep.

Rueckert is BYU’s first commitment in the class of 2026.
He recently took an official visit to Provo, where he told Vanquish The Foe that he had a Zoom call with BYU legend Jimmer Fredette.
Rueckert was a standout performer in last month’s Peach Jam in Georgia in his final AAU event with the Utah Prospects.
Last winter, Rueckert had a performance that turned heads nationally when he scored 31 points against Notre Dame Prep, which featured the class of 2026 No. 1 recruit Tyran Stokes.
Rueckert has career averages of 16.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game since his freshman season at Timpview High.
The early signing period for college basketball recruits begins on November 12 and runs until November 19.
