BYU Basketball Releases Nonconference Schedule For 2025-26 Season

PROVO, Utah – BYU basketball unveiled its non-conference schedule for the 2025-26 season.

The Cougars enter their second year under head coach Kevin Young and are regarded as one of the top teams in the nation, having advanced to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament a season ago.

With a roster that features first team All-Big 12 player Richie Saunders and No. 1 recruit AJ Dybantsa, BYU loaded up the quality opponents in their non-conference schedule.

Matchups against teams who reached the NCAA Tournament last season

BYU has four teams that reached the NCAA Tournament in 2025 on the schedule. One of the matchups is an exhibition against North Carolina at the Delta Center on October 24.

The regular season matchups against teams who reached the Big Dance last year include UConn on November 15 at the TD Garden in Boston. It will be a homecoming for Dybantsa, a native of Brockton, Massachusetts.

One week later, on November 21, BYU will face Wisconsin at the Delta Center. BYU defeated Wisconsin last year in Denver in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to advance to the Sweet 16.

On December 9, BYU goes to “The Mecca” of basketball, Madison Square Garden, to face the Clemson Tigers in the Jimmy V Classic. Clemson features two players who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: UVU transfer Carter Welling and Utah transfer/former BYU signee Jake Wahlin.

BYU opens the regular season against the Villanova Wildcats in Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena. Villanova has a new head coach in Kevin Willard, who they hired from Maryland.

The first game of the season played at the Marriott Center will be on November 8 when BYU hosts Holy Cross.

BYU has six non-conference games at the Marriott Center. They will go more than a month without playing in Provo after they host Delaware on November 11. The next Marriott Center game will be against UC Riverside on December 13, which BYU faced in non-conference play last year.

Other Marriott Center matchups include former WCC foe Pacific, Abilene Christian, and Eastern Washington from the Big Sky Conference.

BYU’s annual multi-team event (MTE) will take place in Orlando, Florida, as part of the Terry’s Chocolate ESPN Invitational. The two-game event will include BYU, Dayton, Georgetown, and Miami.

Also of note on the schedule, BYU’s scheduled trip to face its old WAC/MWC rival Wyoming in Laramie has been removed. BYU hosted Wyoming in Provo two years ago, followed by a neutral court game last season at the Delta Center.
