Scorching hot, and after their seventh win in a row, the BYU Cougars headed to the Hilton Coliseum to slay a giant, the No. 10 Iowa State Cyclones. Previous to the game against BYU, Iowa State’s only other loss at home this season was to Kansas State, who beat the Cyclones during their six-game winning streak during conference play.
It was a wild affair that didn’t see the Cougars score a point for the first six minutes of the game before a monstrous run to close the first half and open the second that had BYU up by 21 with less than 15 minutes to go. The Cyclones would roar back and tie the game and the teams would then need two overtime periods to decide a winner.
After 50 minutes of basketball, BYU finally came out on top and the exhausted Cougars were able to celebrate their first-ever win in Hilton Coliseum.
Iowa State vs BYU was one of the games of the year in college basketball, and social media had no shortage of reactions to the madness.

BYU has now won road games at both Arizona and Iowa State in the past few weeks.
Cougars will be a trendy deep pick on Selection Sunday.
I’ll say it again: This program was denied the chance to make a deep NCAA Tournament run in 2020.
It could make up for it in 2025.

I've tried to tell you for weeks – BYU is the real deal
I was told to wait until the Kansas game. Then Arizona. Then Iowa State.
Well, Cougars just won at Iowa State and have won 11 of 13 and 7 straight.
Accept it: This team can play with, and BEAT anyone in college hoops pic.twitter.com/93iR0teMvw

One of the wildest college basketball games I’ve ever watched…
I’m still in shock.
Up by 21?
2 OTs.
Keba trailing block.
Saunders free throws.
Hall’s crossover step back 3.
Demin with some incredible shots and a couple massive dishes.
Taking momentum back after losing it.

THE BYU COUGARS REMAIN LAVA HOT! Playing like one of the best teams in the country. Might end up on the six seed line when this is all done. Feeling like a six or seven, though. Legit second weekend potential here for the Cougs. What an awesome team and such a big win.

BYU @ Iowa State has got to be the game of the year in college basketball. Top 25 matchup with huge postseason implications. The Cyclones NEVER lose at Hilton.

B-Y-U
What a road win for the Cougars! Blew a big lead in regulation, and the game went into two overtimes, but no matter! BYU found a way to win!
BYU will get off the 8/9 line, this moves the needle quite a bit. Iowa State likely drops to a 3.
