PROVO, Utah – Robert Wright III is officially a BYU Cougar.
The former Baylor Bear, one of the top players in the transfer portal this year, committed to BYU last week.
On Monday, BYU announced the signing. Wright concluded his visit to Provo this past weekend.
“We are excited to welcome Rob and his entire family to BYU,” BYU basketball head coach Kevin Young said in a written statement. “He comes from a great family, and we are thrilled to have them all join Cougar Nation. Rob is one of the most dynamic guards in the country with his combination of speed and quickness. He is the ultimate floor general and makes everyone around him better. We look forward to getting Rob on campus and getting to work.”
Wright chimed in for the first time on the signing to BYU, posting on X, “Let’s Work #AGTG (All Glory To God).”

The addition of Robert Wright gives BYU a star point guard to replace Egor Demin, who announced last week that he is entering the NBA Draft process.
Wright averaged 11.5 points, 4.2 assists, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game during his freshman season with the Baylor Bears.
His play in Waco earned him Honorable Mention All-Big 12 and All-Freshman Team honors last season.
Wright is rated as the No. 8 overall Transfer Portal prospect in the 2025 cycle by 247Sports.

Robert Wright joins a BYU basketball program that will feature five-star freshman AJ Dybantsa and potentially Richie Saunders. Saunders has not made a public decision on whether he plans to return to BYU or enter the NBA Draft.
One of Wright’s top games last season as a freshman at Baylor was against BYU on January 28. Wright scored 22 points and dished out six assists for the Bears.
