AJ Dybantsa, Team USA Win Gold Medal At 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup

BYU basketball star AJ Dybantsa accomplished what he set out to do with Team USA’s U19 squad: bring home a gold medal.
Team USA’s U19 team won the gold medal in the FIBA U19 World Cup in Switzerland on Sunday. USA defeated Germany, 109-76.

The win completed a redemption tour for Team USA, which had not earned a medal in the U19 World Cup two years prior.
They left no doubt in their quest for a Gold medal this year, posting an undefeated record.
Team USA outscored Germany 53-29 in the second half to put an exclamation mark on its perfect run in Switzerland to claim the gold medal. It’s the ninth-ever gold medal in U19 play for Team USA.
Dybantsa finished with 11 points on 4-of-11 shooting from the field, six rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 19 minutes of play.
He finished the U19 World Cup scoring a total of 100 points over seven games for an average of 14.3 points per game.

The BYU standout earned MVP honors for his play during the FIBA U19 World Cup over the past seven games. NBA legend Dirk Nowitzki greeted him with the MVP trophy.

He’s the fifth-ever Team USA player to win the FIBA U19 MVP.
Sunday’s victory is the second gold medal win in Dybantsa’s career as an international player. When he was part of the U17 squad, he helped guide Team USA to a gold medal.
AJ Dybantsa is preparing for his freshman season with the BYU basketball program. He will return to Utah on July 14.
The 6-foot-9 Dybantsa is projected to be one of the top NBA draft prospects for the 2026 class.
