SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz will face the red-hot San Antonio Spurs offense without the services of Donovan Mitchell tonight.

The Jazz announced Sunday that Mitchell would miss the Jazz upcoming two-game road trip while he deals with a left lower back strain.

The Spurs meanwhile have been on a tear offensively since beating the Jazz in Utah last Saturday.

Jazz Preparing For Life Without Mitchell

The Jazz will be without Mitchell who suffered the back strain in a Christmas night victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.

Mitchell hurt himself in the second quarter of the game and left to have his back looked at, but returned with his normal bounce.

The All-Star guard scored 33 points in the Jazz win and indicated that he was feeling fine after the game.

“I don’t really know how to describe the feeling,” Mitchell said. “You can’t move, you kind of have to stand straight up. But I got worked on and dunked after that, so I was alright.”

Mitchell has played in all but one game for the Jazz so far this season, a 116-98 victory over the Hawks in Atlanta.

Spurs Scoring Impressive Offensive Numbers

The Spurs have been on an offensive tear over their last five games and now own the sixth-best offense in the NBA.

San Antonio has averaged 128 points per game over their last five games starting with an impressive 128-126 victory in Utah little more than a week ago.

The Spurs are 4-1 in their last five games and own an offensive rating of 123.3, the best in the NBA.

San Antonio is shooting just 33 percent from the three-point line over their last five games, but own the lowest turnover rate in the NBA, maximizing their offensive efficiency.

Broadcast

The Jazz and Spurs will tip-off at 6:30 pm MT and can be heard on KSL NewsRadio and The Zone Sports Network. The game will be televised on AT&T SportsNet and FuboTV.
