SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz announced the team will celebrate LOVELOUD night on March 9 at Vivint Arena against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The LOVELOUD night will celebrate diversity, equity, inclusion, and unity with members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community.

LOVELOUD is a foundation created by Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds which strives to bring communities and families together to help begin conversations about how to show love towards LGBTQ+ youth.

Reynold’s foundation has awarded grants and works with 28 local organizations or chapters, including Encircle, Equality Utah, Mama Dragons, Utah Pride Center, and Human Rights Campaign Utah.

“The Utah Jazz embrace inclusivity and believe in creating an environment that is welcoming to everyone,” Chief Experience Officer Andrea Williams said in a release from the team.

“LOVELOUD Night is one of the ways the Jazz organization demonstrates its support for acceptance and inclusion. We look forward to recognizing the voices, contributions, and talents of the LGBTQ+ community during a Jazz game.”

Neon Trees lead vocalist Tyler Glenn will sing the National Anthem during the LOVELOUD game, while the arena will air a video to recognize LGBTQ+ organizations in Utah

The night will also include a charitable donation opportunity for the LOVELOUD Foundation and other special performances.

Jazz Active In LGBTQ+ Community

LOVELOUD night is the latest in a series of efforts from Jazz ownership to show support for the LGBTQ+ community.

Team owner Ryan Smith has partnered with part-owner Dwyane Wade, Reynolds, and Apple CEO Tim Cook to work with Encircle in their fundraising efforts to expand the non-profit throughout Utah, Arizona, Idaho, and Nevada with the “$8 Million, 8 Houses” project.

Encircle is a non-profit organization that strives to create family and youth resource centers aimed at providing a safe space for members of the LGBTQ+ community.

In October, the non-profit organization announced that with the help of a $1 million donation from DOMO CEO Josh James and his wife Marina, it had reached its goal.

The “$8 Million, 8 Houses” projected created eight new safe spaces across the four states for LGBTQ+ youth and their families.
