Jazz Guard Donovan Mitchell Connects On Early Threes Against Spurs

SALT LAKE CITY – Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell connected on a pair of three-pointers during the opening minutes of Utah’s game against the San Antonio Spurs.

The Spurs hosted the Jazz at AT&T Center on Friday, March 11.
During the first minutes of the contest, Mitchell got his game going from beyond the arc.
The NBA All-Star buried a couple of early threes to ignite Utah’s offense.
Mitchell’s first triple came from 26-feet out and gave the Jazz a 6-5 lead with 9:39 left in the quarter. The guard’s second three arrived on a 28-footer with 8:36 remaining in the first. Mitchell’s second three gave Utah a 12-7 advantage.

With a 25-20 lead, the fifth-year guard took his first break of the game at the 3:01 mark.
Before heading to the bench, Mitchell had recorded a team-high eight points on 3-6 field goals, including 2-4 from distance. He added one rebound and an assist during his first nine minutes of action.

This season, Mitchell is averaging 25.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game.
Jazz vs. Spurs
With 17 games left in the regular season, the fourth-seeded Jazz will be closely monitoring the playoff of the Dallas Mavericks who sit in the fifth seed.
Dallas trails the Jazz by just a game and a half, and with another meeting between the two teams set for March 27, every game will be crucial for the standings.

The Jazz are 5-2 since returning from the All-Star break but will be missing a key cog as they look to build on their recent success.
Bogdanovic, who will miss Friday’s game, is on a historic shooting streak for the Jazz. The forward had knocked down a franchise-record 21 three-pointers in his three previous games, the most by any Jazzman over a three-game stretch.
Bogdanovic had also led the Jazz in scoring in each of their three previous games.
