SALT LAKE CITY – San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich will look to take sole possession of the NBA’s all-time coaching record when they host the Utah Jazz on Friday night.

The Jazz will look to avoid becoming a part of history with a loss but will be doing so without the services of forward Bojan Bogdanovic who suffered a right leg contusion in Wednesday’s win over Portland.

The two teams have split their season series one game apiece heading into the rubber match.

Jazz Look To Keep Lead On Mavericks

With 17 games left in the regular season, the fourth-seeded Jazz will be closely monitoring the playoff of the Dallas Mavericks who sit in the fifth seed.

Dallas trails the Jazz by just a game and a half, and with another meeting between the two teams set for March 27, every game will be crucial for the standings.

The Jazz are 5-2 since returning from the All-Star break but will be missing a key cog as they look to build on their recent success.

Bogdanovic, who will miss Friday’s game, is on a historic shooting streak for the Jazz. The forward had knocked down a franchise-record 21 three-pointers in his three previous games, the most by any Jazzman over a three-game stretch.

Bogdanovic had also led the Jazz in scoring in each of their three previous games.

Popovich Looks Coaching Record Vs. Jazz

On Monday, Popovich pulled even with longtime Mavericks and Golden State Warriors head coach Don Nelson with 1,335 career wins.

The Spurs had a chance to push Popovich over the top on Wednesday against the Toronto Raptors but fell short 119-104.

After their win on Wednesday, Jazz coach Quin Snyder discussed Popovich who he worked under as a coach of the Spurs D-League affiliate Austin Toros.

“From a personal standpoint, the times I have needed help or guidance, he’s been there for me,” Snyder said.

“It’s probably emblematic of all the people that he’s touched and supported and helped throughout his career.”

Broadcast

The Jazz and Spurs will tip-off at 6:30 pm MT and can be heard on The Zone Sports Network. The game will be televised on AT&T SportsNet and FuboTV.
