Reid, a BYU alum, said that he was a big fan of Cougar football coach Kalani Sitake.
“I’m a big Kalani (Sitake) fan,” Reid said. “I love the way he goes about his business, tremendous person, (and a) great recruiter. He’s got a huge venue that he’s entering with the new conference, but they sure did a nice job with it last year. I know he’ll build off of that going forward.”
Reidâs respect for local coaches didnât stop there.
He went on to say that he stays in contact with Whittingham and appreciates the work he has done with the Utes.
“Kyle (Whittingham) comes back and visits, or if I’m out here, I have a chance to visit with him,” Reid said. “We stay in contact. He’s a phenomenal football coach. He’s got a great mind. The things he’s done at this university here in Salt Lake City have been incredible. (It’ll) be very hard to copy that going forward.”
At the Governor’s State Of Sport Awards, Reid helped open the event before the Utah teams and athletes received their awards.
