Tiger Woods, Peyton Manning Hold Off Late Rally From Phil Mickelson, Tom Brady In ‘The Match’

HOBE SOUND, Fla. – Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning held off Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady to win “The Match: Champions for Charity” golf tournament at Medalist Golf Club.

The four players helped raise $20 million for COVID-19 relief efforts.
Woods and Manning had one better hole than Mickelson and Brady. Most of the entertainment came from the playful trash talking between the two teams along with the commentators.

Front Nine
The two teams tied in the first two holes of the match before Woods and Manning went up one after the third hole. They went up by two after getting a better result on the fourth hole. After a tie on hole five, Woods and Manning went up three after the sixth hole. The quad tied the final three holes of the front nine.

On the seventh hole despite struggling in the first six holes, Tom Brady nailed an eagle on the par 5 after putting the ball in the hole from the fairway. He also ripped the backside of his pants during the front nine and had to put on a different pair of pants.

Back Nine
Mickelson and Brady trailed by three going into the back nine when they split the 10th hole, they won the 11th hole to trail by two. After ties on both the 12th and 13th holes, lefty and the new Buccaneer won the 14th hole to pull within one. They couldn’t tie the match after they split the final three holes.
