Utah State Looks For First Quad One Win With Wolfpack In Town

Feb 17, 2023, 11:38 AM | Updated: 12:19 pm

LOGAN, Utah – o-for-4 against Quad One opponents this season, Utah State has a chance to bolster its postseason resume with the Nevada Wolfpack coming in.

Utah State looks to even the season series with Nevada at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on Saturday, February 18. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. (MT).

USU picked up their 20th win of the season, already besting last year’s 18-win team with four games yet to play.

In their last game, Max Shulga and Trevin Dorius each notched career-highs in scoring, leading USU to an 80-65 win over Air Force.

Dorius scored seven of the Aggies first nine points, on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds on 7-of-11 shooting. Shulga’s hot hand had the Aggie faithful going crazy as he buried three big second-half threes. The junior guard finished with a career-high 29 points and tied a career-high with five made threes on a career-high eight attempts.

Nevada Wolfpack (20-6, 10-3)

Tied for second in the Mountain West with Boise State, the Wolfpack come to Logan with the fifth-best RPI in the nation. A recent four-game winning streak led to Nevada receiving 36 votes in the most recent AP Top-25 poll.

Nevada used a late second-half run to pull away from the Aggies in their previous matchup on January 13. After the Aggies tied the game at 64 with 7:42 to play, Nevada outscored USU 21-6 over the final seven minutes to win 85-70.

The winning streak began with a 75-66 home win over then No. 22 San Diego State. After a blowout win over Air Force, Nevada survived 77-76 in a thrilling win over always dangerous New Mexico. The Wolfpack will be well rested after seven days off since beating Fresno State 77-66 on February 10.

Jarod Lucas leads the Wolfpack, averaging 17.7 points per game while starting all 26 games. Kenan Blackshear (14.8ppg) and Will Baker (13.6ppg) round out three players in double-figures.
