Alissa Pili Powers Utah Women’s Basketball To Win Over Oregon

SALT LAKE CITY – Alissa Pili powered the Utah women’s basketball team to a road victory in conference play against the Oregon Ducks.

The Ducks hosted the No. 7 Utes at Matthew Knight Arena on Sunday, February 5.

Utah beat Oregon, 100-92.

Pili carried the Utes behind a massive performance. She recorded 30 points on 12-18 field goals, seven rebounds, and six assists.

It was a heated battle throughout the contest and neither team led by double digits. The Utes owned the largest lead of the game as nine points and the Ducks never led by more than a possession.

Following the opening quarter of action, the Ducks took a one-point lead into the second quarter, 23-22. The Utes responded with a strong defensive quarter before halftime to take the lead. Utah owned a 47-41 advantage on the scoreboard following the opening 20 minutes of game time.

After the break, the Ducks battled back but the Utes kept pace with the home team. Utah took a six-point lead into the final quarter of action. Pili scored 11 of her 30 points during the fourth quarter and helped Utah close out an eight-point win.

Utah ended the afternoon shooting a blazing 62.3 percent overall and 52.0 percent from beyond the arc. Oregon shot 50.0 percent from the floor, including 47.4 percent on three-pointers.

Five Utes finished the game scoring in double figures. In addition to Pili’s big game, Jenna Johnson poured in 19 points. Kennady McQueen and Gianna Kneepkens combined for 31 points. Teya Siberry led Utah’s second unit with eight points.

Four Oregon players hit double-digits in scoring. Endyia Rogers led the Ducks with a game-high 35 points.

With the win, the Utes improved their record to 20-2 on the season, including 10-2 in Pac-12 Conference contests. It was Utah’s fifth consecutive victory. Utah’s next game is at home against the Washington Huskies on Friday, February 10. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. (MDT).
