SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 7 Utah women’s basketball team beat Oregon State on the road in overtime, 75-73. A trip to the line for Alissa Pili ultimately sealed the deal for the Utes.

Pili proved to be a stalwart again, leading the team in points with 23. Gianna Kneepkens and Jenna Johson followed with 17 and 11 points as well.

Kennady McQueen was solid with nine points of her own, including going 3-7 from the three-point marker.

Utah At Oregon State

Utah got the first points of the game off a two-point jumper from Pili. Oregon State wasted no time following up with their own two-points to tie the game up.

At about the eight-minute mark of the first quarter, McQueen hit her first of three three-point shots to make the score 5-2.

The Utes would finish the first quarter up 22-9 on the Beavers.

Utah would jump up to a 24-9 lead over Oregon State before the Beavers would get their first points in the second quarter just under the nine-minute mark.

OSU ended the half within 11 points of Utah, 38-27, after being down by as much as 18 points at one point.

Through the third quarter Utah extended their lead out to 18 points before Oregon State started to close the gap down to an eight-point game.

The fourth quarter started with Utah leading 54-46 and ending in a 66-point tie between the two teams. Turnovers and missed shots plagued the Utes in the final quarter of regulation, allowing the Beavers to make a comeback and force overtime.

OSU struck first in overtime going up 68-66 on the Utes. Kneepkens quickly answered back with a sunk three-point shot giving Utah the single point lead.

Utah and Oregon traded shots back and forth through overtime until a trip to the line and two-made free-throw shots ultimately tipped the scales in Utah’s favor for good.
